Basil Pesto


4oz container of fresh Basil
1/4 cup cilantro leaves
1 large clove garlic
1/4 cup pinenuts
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4+ olive oil
1 tsp agave nectar
sea salt and pepper


In a mini food processor combine the basil and half of the olive oil. Blend until leafs are broken up. Add cilantro, pinenuts, walnuts, and agave and blend until well mixed (adding more olive oil if needed. Taste, and add salt and pepper to season. In order to get desired consistency play with the amount of nuts and the amount of oil.

I love pesto! The idea of LOVE GROWN FOODS began because of my pesto! I like to double this recipe, keep a little fresh in the fridge and then freeze mini zip-locks to pull out and have. Play around with adding other spices and herbs such a parsley, fresh ginger, fresh thyme, chives etc. Or even change the ratio of basil to cilantro to make more of a cilantro pesto with a hint of basil. Really, in my opinion, you can’t go wrong!
