“The granola is UBER-YUMMY!”

After our much anticipated 80-store debut WE ARE FINALLY ON THE SHELVES! Our 24-hour bake-athon succeeded with us having our pallets wrapped and ready for delivery on the evening of Monday January 4th. When we called to set up a delivery time, they told us that with the problems we encountered in terms of receiving the order we can push back the delivery to Thursday the 7th rather than Tuesday the 5th. Slightly disappointed (after we busted our butts getting everything together) we said Thursday would be great and left it at that. Tuesday morning, however, we received a message that said, “Sorry I didn’t call you last night, but we will need the pallets as soon as possible–preferably within the next hour and no later than noon.” (MIND YOU IT WAS 10am!) Let me explain something to you, our three pallets of products each weigh about 500 lbs…something that a) you can’t move without a pallet jack b) don’t fit in a car and c) transporting in a truck requires time to set up an appointment and have the truck available. Had we received that call the night before, we would have had our pallets on the truck when it left early in the morning…but at 10am it is A LOT harder to get a truck…especially one that can deliver before noon!

SUMMARY: We were under MASSIVE pressure…AGAIN!

I was on the phone with U-HAUL while Alex was running around trying to get another form of transportation. We probably looked like chickens with our heads cut off! I am not sure how it all happened, but suddenly the truck we  typically would use was back and the driver was able to load our pallets onto the truck: MIRACULOUS! We lead his truck to the warehouse. The men who organize the receiving were AWESOME! They were so nice!! I am sure it is pretty atypical to see two kids in their 20s delivering their own product!

After completing all the paperwork and the delivery, we started heading back to the kitchen: it was 11:50am…WE JUST MADE IT! We were told that the bags would be on the shelves the following Monday–we couldn’t wait! It was hard to believe it was really happening!!!

Monday morning we woke up, worked out, and then headed straight to the King Soopers near our house anxiously awaiting the debut of our products and SO excited to see them on the shelves! When we got there, however, nothing had changed. Our bags were nowhere to be found and the shelves were full of other products. We headed off the the kitchen to work out the details of upping our production, wondering when our products would arrive. A similar routine took place Tuesday…and Wednesday…but we left each morning disappointed. THEN, Wednesday–while waiting on the crew to help us with some mechanical stuff–Alex and I decided to take a drive to King Soopers on S. Parker Rd.

The bright Colorado sun warmed our skin, the sky was perfectly blue, and butterflies stirred in our stomachs. We walked into the store and stopped. We looked left and right to determine where the cereal isle was. Once spotted, we darted over and there it was: LOVE GROWN FOODS! All three flavors lined up neatly on the top shelf! I grabbed Alex’s arm and began jumping up and down!!! “THIS IS SO NEAT!!!” We starred, took pictures, and then starred some more! I kept telling Alex that I wanted to find someone I could sell it to or just talk to someone and introduce ourselves…unfortunately the market was pretty barren right then and I was out of luck. We got back in our car and returned to the kitchen gleaming with delight! IT WAS THE OFFICIAL 80-STORE DEBUT!!!
