Spreading a Little Love

Along with apples, oats are one thing I try to eat every day (gosh, I sound like a horse when I put it like that, lol!  Even more so when I mention that I drink bucket loads of water too).  Oh well, it’s delicious to me!  I like oats in any form (oatmeal, granola, cookies, breads, etc.), and I especially enjoy eating them for breakfast, so I was thrilled when I recently had the opportunity to try out some Love Grown granola.

The generous people at Love Grown sent me some of every flavor granola to try – apple walnut delight, cocoa goodness, raisin almond crunch, simply oats, and sweet cranberry pecan.  I thought every flavor was fantastic, but I have to say the raisin almond crunch was my personal favorite.

It had whole almonds, raisins, and coconut flakes with a subtle sweetness and a hint of cinnamon.  It was like an oatmeal cookie, but in healthy breakfast-friendly form.

Love Grown uses wholesome ingredients like whole grain oats, nuts, seeds, honey, apples, and coconut in their products.  You can read more about the ingredients they use on their site, look for a location near you, and read the (adorable!) story of how they started their company.

And I have to show you the box that my goodies came in, just because I thought it was so cute…

Getting packages is always fun, but this one really brought a huge smile to my face…thanks Love Grown!

Well, I don’t have to get all creative up in here today because IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! Can you tell I feel just a wee bit excited? I don’t quite know why but I have awaited this birthday for awhile. It’s not even a big deal like turning 30 or anything. I’m simply another year older and hopefully at least a few months worth wiser. The last year has proved an exciting one, so perhaps I just anticipate even bigger and brighter things ahead.

I don’t know how I can beat it though. Just look at all that has happened in my life since my last birthday:

Yowza! Looking at that astounds me. I sure hope you all hang around for the next year of my life. It wouldn’t be the same without ya. Smile

Since its my birthday and all, I think that calls for a little celebration. And what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway. I love you and nothing makes me happier than showing you some love. That’s what I want for my birthday – to say thank you and spread the love.

You all know I worked with Love Grown Foods at the blogging conference. You all know how much I adore them. I think nothing compares to their granola. I think they may just be the nicest group of individuals to work with out there. They inspire the heck out of me with their commitment to producing quality, dreaming big, and still caring for the people who eat their granola. I think you will quickly fall in love with them too after trying their granola.

I think we need a Love Grown Giveaway so I can a) say the biggest THANK YOU in the world to Love Grown for sponsoring me at the conference, b) say an even bigger THANK YOU to you for reading and supporting my passion in FFF, and c) to have some fun on my birthday. Giveaways are a blast, right? Open-mouthed smile

Good Morning!  Happy Tuesday!  The weather is absolutely beautiful outside today!  It feels like a cool and crisp fall morning!  I cannot wait for this weather every single day!  I love the fall.  I really like wearing sweaters and uggs.  I’m most definitely more of a fall girl.  I love the pumpkin flavors and the colors.  It really is beautiful!  I’m excited for pumpkin and apple picking too!  Those are always a guaranteed fun time!  Plus, fresh brussels sprouts are in season!  I cannot wait to buy some fresh ones on sale!!

Yesterday when I got home from work, I had a delightful package waiting for me outside my front door!

LOVE GROWN goodies!!

It was a box full of Love Grown Granola from the lovely, Laura!!  She even took the time to write me a personalized note which I thought was super nice!

Note from Laura!

Love Grown Foods was started by a couple by the name of Maddy and Alex in Colorado.  I love that their products contain pure and simple ingredients and that the company as a whole encourages consumers to live a healthy and active lifestyle.  Their mission is simple: “We are founded on the beliefs that you should be able to pronounce every ingredient in a product and that food should be nutritious and healthy while also tasting great!”  All of their products do not contain the following: Refined sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Trans Fat, Hydrogenated Oils, Artificial Flavors, Preservatives, Gluten, and Genetically Modified Ingredients.

Closer look at the smaller bags

I was sent three large bags of Sweet Cranberry Pecan, Simply Oats, and Raisin Almond Crunch as well as little bags to try out.  I was having a hard time figuring out which bag I was going to open first.  So I decided to try out the Raisin Almond Crunch!

Raisin Almond Crunch

The ingredients are simple: Certified Gluten-Free Oats, Honey, Almonds, Raisins, Organic Agave Syrup, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Coconut, Sunflower Seeds, Spices, Milled Flaxseed, Cinnamon, and Sea Salt.

Large Cluster!

This Raisin Almond Crunch Granola was incredible!  I’m not just saying that because I was sent the products to try out.  My opinions are my own.  I like the fact that there were large clusters throughout the bags as well as pieces of almonds.  It had really great cinnamon raisin flavor.  I probably could have finished the entire bag in one sitting.  I had quite a few handfuls because it was so good.  If this is a preview of what the rest of the flavors taste like than I am in for a real treat!  I cannot wait to try the rest of the flavors!  I even had some of the Raisin Almond Crunch on my cereal today and it was delicious!  I am a big fan of Love Grown Granola!  Thank you so much, Laura for allowing me to try out your products!

Soooo…Saturday at the Healthy Living Summit. I’m sure you have seen most of it on other blogs already so I will give you my personal spin on it all.

The day started with a simple breakfast of Attune Foods cereal and fruit.

We had to get some food in our bellies after the run and before starting the long day of conference sessions ahead. I had the Honey Almond Crunch cereal, which filled me up surprisingly well. Normally I can eat me some cereal. A huge pile of fruit always helps.

I also had the fun task to spread the love. Thank you so much again to Love Grown for sponsoring me at the conference. They truly were so awesome to work with and I loved getting to meet some friends and share the granola I believe in so much with all.

Then, conference time commenced! I attended some fabulous sessions about action mantras from Dawn at Quaker Oats, recipe development from Stepfanie at Spark People, and negative commenting or feedback in blogging from my girls Brittany, Courtney, Heather, and Julie. Every session was so fabulous! Let me know if there are any that particularly interest you so I can maybe do a more detailed description later. :)

And then came the time…

My panel discussion on “The Numbers Game: Goal Motivation”!!

I actually didn’t feel nervous at all and felt like the discussion went really well. Janetha, Lisa, Beth, and I tried to have a variety of perspectives that hopefully everyone who attended could relate to on some level. I also really appreciated the participation from the audience and all the different insights. We touched on so many different things from the pros and cons of using specific numbers in tracking and motivating progress, how to have a healthy balance with our goals, and more. I plan on giving all the nitty gritty here later this week. Don’t want to overwhelm you with so much in this one post. Because a lot more happened to catch you all up on.

Like Katy Widrick’s super amazing, inspirational, informational talk on not selling out your blog and how to monetize it well. I love her! Her blog is a wealth of information, including much of what she touched on in the conference. If you don’t know Katy already – read her blog!

Then…it was done. I could hardly believe that our last full conference day had come to a close so quickly! Luckily, we still had a solid 8+ hours of fun ahead of us.

December Daisy, YOU ROCK!

We received an AMAZING email from Elle of the blog DECEMBER DAISY the other day. She is an oober fan of the LOVE, so we decided to send some more LOVE her way! Thanks Elle! YOU ROCK!
