“Hi Friends!

Yesterday was Secret Recipe Club Reveal but today I’m back with a full recap of my amazing weekend at Blend Retreat in Boulder, Colorado!

I left super early Friday morning, flew through Dallas and arrived in Denver around 11am. I was one of the first to arrive so I hung out at the airport for a while before meeting up with one of my roommates for the weekend- Sarah. We had a really exciting afternoon lined up! After meeting up with a few bloggers I already “knew” from reading their blogs, Courtney & Alyssa, as well as a few new friends- Bobbi & Brittany, we were picked up from the airport in style.

That’s right. Maddy and Alex, the founders of Love Grown Foods, picked us up in Elby, The LOVE bus. Isn’t it awesome?! Maddy got super excited when she heard some of her LOVE bloggers were coming to Denver so she offered to pick us up and take us on a couple of tours. We got to see their office- check out the ping pong table! They built all the furniture themselves. We learned some fun stuff about Love Grown Foods and the whole office smelled like cinnamon raisin granola. It was heavenly. Then we saw their old production site, a super small manufacturing space attached to their office. It’s currently almost empty because they just recently outsourced their production to Fresca Foods. Maddy and Alex also hooked us up with a huge box full of some of their favorite local food products. I cannot wait to try them all!

The next stop on our journey to Boulder was touring the Fresca Foods facility! So many awesome products are produced here: Love Grown Foods Granola, Lara Bars, Justin’s Nut Butter , 34 Degrees Crackers and Boulder Ice Cream just to name a few. We saw their research and development room, their recipe testing room and then headed to the back to see the actual production rooms! We saw Lara Bars being packaged and got to taste one right of the line. It was AMAZING. So much better than when you buy them in the store.

We also so the LGF room. Maddy and Alex told us about how they used to make all the granola themselves, mix it by hand and seal all the bags with the help of their parents. It’s so amazing to hear how much they’ve grown. They’re two of the most passionate people I’ve ever met and you can tell they really pour their heart and soul into their business! So proud to represent them as a Love blogger.

Here’s some more pics Maddy snapped of all of us:

As an added bonus, THE Justin, of Justin’s Nut Butters, just so happened to be on-site at Fresca Foods while we were there. We got to meet him, chat with him for a while and he gave us a tour of his production room. It was amazing. He’s also built his company up through a lot of hard work and dedication. In fact, it’s growing so fast that the whole reason he was there on Friday was because they were installing more equipment so they can keep up with the demand for his products! We even got a picture with him!

After our tours were over, they drove us the rest of way to Boulder and dropped us off at Blend!…”

Sensational gluten-free granola!

“Granola is kind of my thing. It’s always been something that I can’t seem to get enough of. I remember being a little girl, walking through the bulk isle of our grocery store, admiring all the different kinds of granola. I would ask my parents to let me taste a few and then I would get to pick my favorite one. Usually Strawberries & Cream.

When I took gluten out of my diet breakfast cereal, mainly granola, was the thing I missed most. Of course, there were packaged gluten-free granolas out there, but it was difficult for me to justify the spending $6 – $8 a bag. I tried a bunch of different kinds and never found what I was looking for. But then I found Love Grown Foods.

Yes, those are chocolate chips you see in there.

In a word? Amazing.

This Denver based company, is “on a mission to SPREAD THE LOVE and bring healthier foods to more people”. I can’t think of a more straightforward, honest and holistic way to share gluten-free goodies with the world. Oh and not to mention that their granola totally rocks.

They have five delicious flavors, all super healthy, made with wholesome ingredients and certified gluten-free. Plus, they not only sell larger bags of this fabulous stuff, but it also comes in little snack packs, which are the perfect portion and keep you from eating the entire bag in one sitting (which trust me, is entirely possible).

Today’s giveaway (and my very first on the Queen of Quinoa!) is brought to you by the wonderful folks at Love Grown Foods. The giveaway includes:

“You know when there’s a food you just can’t get enough of? That’s fun (and delicious), right?!

And you know when there’s a company that you can fully stand behind and want to support? That’s a good feeling too, huh?

And when you can find a place that does both? It’s amazing. I know.

Yeah, Love Grown Foods is just that…and so much more.

From the moment I corresponded via email with Maddy, the Founder and Chief Love Officer :) , and her positive emails were filled with phrases like “YOU ROCK” and “thanks for being AWESOME,” I was so impressed at how a company can really do what they say and “SPREAD the LOVE.”

Then, a giant box of LOVE arrived at my doorstep. Filled to the brim with granola in every flavor, magnets, stickers and coupons with positive phrases peeking throughout, this was a package that definitely brightened my day (and every one of my mornings during breakfast since… :) )

The flavors are: Cocoa Goodness, Simply Oats, Apple Walnut Delight, Raisin Almond Crunch and Sweet Cranberry Pecan.

I cannot get enough. Every bag is bursting with crunchy clusters, natural flavors, whole ingredients…and yes, love (it even says it below the ingredients list)!

Seriously though, this stuff is good. Like coming home from a first date with your head in the clouds and butterflies in your stomach good. The Raisin Almond Crunch has WHOLE almonds (my favorite!) throughout the entire bag, the Cocoa Goodness is sweet enough to enjoy for breakfast or with vanilla frozen yogurt for dessert (yum!) and the Simply Oats (pictured below) shows how sometimes keeping things simple allows them to shine the most.

Oh and the best part? They are not only generous enough to send all this LOVE my way, but want to SPREAD the LOVE to YOU!!! One Simply Life reader will win: 3 big bags, mini bags in all 5 flavors, coupons, magnets, and clings!

To enter do any/all of the following and tell me in the comments (giveaway will be open through April 28; winner must have a US address):

1. SPREAD the LOVE. Tell me how you spread the love! Is it through positive words, sharing healthy foods with others or taking care of the Earth on Earth Day?
2. Visit Love Grown Foods and tell me something you learned from their site!
3. Spread the Love on Twitter and tweet about this giveaway using @LoveGrowFoods & @SimplyLifeBlog! (Example: Enter to win @LoveGrownFoods #giveaway at @SimplyLifeBlog! http://www.simplylifeblog.com/?p=4736)

“…First up: breakfast, which was made possible in part by Jenn (Peas & Crayons), herself!

After winning her giveaway a few weeks ago, a glorious package filled with Love Grown Granola finally arrived! She even snuck in some tea and a cute note. So Jenn.

Several bloggers have been going ga-ga over this granola this for a while, so I was excited to see what all the hype was about…

…and worthy, it was. Mm! One bite and I knew that was it. I’m converted. Count me in. Good thing I finished my paleo month because this is goooood.

BONUS: It is gluten-free! Woohoo! It’s got all these other traits to brag about, too:

And even the “flavored” bag uses REAL INGREDIENTS for the star flavors! What a novel idea, to use real walnuts and real apples rather than “apple flavor.” Well done, Love Grown Foods.

I loved the “Apple Walnut Delight” flavor. Normally, I sprinkle (okay, dump) cinnamon into my Greek yogurt, but Love Grown was one step ahead of me, knowing that cinnamon goes so well with apples and walnuts. Already in there. Boom.

I put some in my Chobani yogurt for breakfast, and when it was empty, I went back and put another quarter cup in the empty yogurt container. Whoops.

She’s right. It is. YUM! I had to seal up the bag and tuck it in the back of my fridge so I wouldn’t be tempted for thirds. Breakfast is over. Move on, Meredith…”
