Can I just say that I have some of the nicest and most caring readers anyone could ever ask for?!  So many of you e-mailed and commented with really great advice and personal stories regarding yesterday’s (very personal) post.  I was feeling much better by the end of the day.  LOVE was truly in the (blog) air!

It’s quite amazing how people you never met could show you so much LOVE when you need it the most.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  And I truly do LOVE you all.

And I want to show you some LOVE in return.

About a month ago, LOVE came to Dallas.  LOVE by the name of Maddie and Alex.  This power couple is the brains and LOVE behind Love Grown Foods.  Love Grown Foods is really a granola movement – granola for everyone.  Love Grown Foods granola is gluten-free, refined sugar-free, trans fat-free, preservative free, and free of artificial flavors.  In addition to all this, Love Grown granola is DELICIOUS – it actually tastes like LOVE has been put into every oat cluster.  Ask Dorry and Lindsay - they know!

Despite our plans to meet up, scheduling issues kept us from meeting.  Despite this, Maddie still sent some LOVE my way.  (P.S. If you ever meet/talk to her, you’ll see – she’s quite LOVEly.)

So, in an effort to pass along the LOVE, Maddie has agreed to give some LOVE to a very lucky reader.  One lucky reader will receive the bag of their choice, along with mini bags of the remaining flavors so you can sample them all!

And, because you have been so good to me, I will send another reader TWO bags of your choice.  Now, keep in mind, I have already tore into the Cocoa Goodness so that’s out.  (Whoops!)

There are four other delicious flavors for you to choose from.

-  Apple Walnut Delight

-  Simply Oats

-  Sweet Cranberry Pecan

-  Raisin Almond Crunch

Take a look at the Love Grown Foods website and blog, the adventures of Maddie and Alex as they tour and promote their granola full of LOVE!

I’m not sure there’s a better way to start my day than with an email saying, “we would love it if we could send you a few bags of our yummy gluten-free granola.”  Uh, yes please!  After a quick look at their website I couldn’t wait to receive the love!
Love Grown Foods is a natural foods company based out of Denver, CO.  The company was started by a couple passionate about spreading health and wellness; now they have a team filled with people who make me feel inspired just reading their profiles!  They offer granola in several flavors that are free of refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, preservatives, gluten and genetically modified ingredients…and of course, all their recipes are made with love!
I was sent this wonderful package with each of their delicious flavors:  Apple Walnut Delight, Simply Oats, Cocoa Goodness, Sweet Cranberry Pecan and Raisin Almond Crunch.
The first bag I went for (you can see I quickly tore open the bag and dug in) was Sweet Cranberry Pecan.  This flavor has the perfect amount of sweetness and crunch, and I love that they use honey and agave rather than refined sugar or artificial sweeteners!
Next, I went for what quickly became my favorite (although trust me, they’re all delicious!), Raisin Almond Crunch (pictured below)!  I LOVE that there are whole almonds in this mixture as well as tons of clusters…basically my perfect combination in a bag!
I’ve also tried the Cocoa Goodness and have been dreaming about how delicious it will be in the summer on-top of frozen yogurt!  You can buy their products online or at these locations.
The best part about working with them (other than the friendly staff and giving me a new reason to wake up excited about breakfast) is that they’re sharing the LOVE with Simply Life readers!  One reader will win 3 full bags of granola!
To enter visit their website and tell me one thing you learned!

“We had the coolest opportunity this week for our moms group to join Love Grown Foods as they drive around the US getting their name out. Their story for creating organic foods is inspirational. I read about them online, then got to chat with Maddy & Alex as they served coffee, juice, and granola with fruit and yogurt! They’ve got great recipes on their site to get creative with.

We sat in Elby, the Love Bus as we ate breakfast which is the coolest RV I’ve ever been in! OK, fine…it’s the only RV I’ve been in, but still very nice. (Look at our stroller line-up outside Elby. So fun!!)

Carter and I both agreed, (along with other mommas), it was delicious and needs to be part of our pantry items! They’re selling at Fry’s and really are affordable! Plus…if you read the ingrediant list, you’ll be able to pronounce and understand each item! That’s worth it, alone!

Cart had the best time as he dined with Colette. Technically, she kept stealing his food, but I think, he thinks she’s too cute to stop! Then he found the driver keys by the steering wheel, which is when I had to get him out of there. Otherwise, we’d be there while he fake drove for a long, long time.

Thanks for such a fun way to start our day, Love Grown!”

While in Phoenix we visited 5 schools and talked about the importance of breakfast, why whole grains are so key, and what growing kids need to be eating to fuel their bodies right. We talked to over 150 students–ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade.

One of the first schools we went to was taught by one of Alex’s friends who is doing Teach For America. Her kids were super excited and full of questions!

We visited some other Teach For America classrooms as well. One of the classes we visited was so cute! It was a kindergarten class taught by my camp counselor! Her kids were so itty-bitty and cute!

Seeing the “light bulb” is one of the best parts. When kids start getting into it and asking questions is when we know what we are doing is sinking in. Kids get even more excited when we give them bags to take home.

One of the classes we visited we met some young entrepreneurs. After class, these boys couldn’t wait to show us the awesome and impressive ducked tape wallets they make! They were so ecstatic and had lots of questions about running a business.

It was a totally stellar trip and awesome experience. Check out all of the classrooms and more pictures on facebook! Also, as we head to TX, GA, OH, and more states we are always looking for more schools, teachers, and students that we can spread the LOVE to! Feel free to make any suggestions and we will try to make it happen!

AZ Blogger Breakfast!

The weather was PERFECT! It was warm, clear sky, and an absolutely fabulous Phoenix spring day! Alex and I were thrilled to be hosting the FIRST BLOGGER BREAKFAST in ELBY the Love Bus! This morning we welcomed moms, kiddos, and bloggers aboard Elby for the most delicious breakfast of LOVE GROWN FOODS.

Check out all the strollers parked out front!

There was no better place to hold the LOVEFAST (get it…LOVE+BREAKFAST) than at the ZOO! Besides, what kiddo doesn’t get excited about the Zoo?!

We served coffee, tea, juice, and Love Grown Parfaits with fruit salad and I also made Love Grown gluten-free scones! It was  a blast! We had a full bus, but LOVED meeting everyone and SPREADING THE LOVE!

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE AWESOME MOMS, KIDDOS, AND BLOGGERS WHO JOINED US!
